The Waterloo Tigers 17U Girls Black team participated in the OVA Provincial Cup this past weekend. They seemed to cruise through the round robin matches defeating Niagara Rapids Summit (25-15, 25-18) and Niagara Fury 16U (25-17, 26-24), leaving them with a longer rest period after lunch. This extra time off helped propel them to victory over Simcoe Extreme (25-22, 25-13) in the quarter final match. The semi-final matchup pitted our Tigers against the winner of Pool B, SVC Stingers, and our Tigers swept them handily 25-8, 25-13.
The hardest matchup of the afternoon was with the top ranked team coming into this tournament – a 16u group from a rival club – Scorpions Fusion.
The final match went to three sets where the Scorpions prevailed. The scores were: 25-18, 21-25, 15-11 in favour of the Scorpions leaving the Tigers with a Silver medal.
